Job Description:

Project Manager – Data Centres (Utilities / Power Focus)

Location: London, hybrid available

Salary: Up to £80,000 plus package

Overview:

Our client, a leading consultancy, is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in utilities, power, or energy infrastructure to support the delivery of mission-critical data centre projects.

This is a hybrid role spanning both front-end development (site feasibility, utilities strategy, early-stage coordination) and on-site project delivery, with a particular emphasis on utilities infrastructure (power, grid, water, fibre).

Key Responsibilities:

Front-End Development:

  • Support site identification, feasibility, and due diligence with a focus on utilities capacity and constraints
  • Lead coordination with utility providers, DNOs/TSOs, and local authorities
  • Develop and manage utilities strategies including grid connection, power procurement, and infrastructure phasing
  • Advise on programme, risk, and cost considerations related to utilities and energy infrastructure
  • Collaborate with design teams, consultants, and clients during pre-construction

Project Delivery:

  • Manage the delivery of utilities infrastructure packages across data centre projects
  • Oversee contractors, subcontractors, and utility providers to ensure programme and quality targets are met
  • Monitor project progress, budget, and risk, with a focus on critical power milestones
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
  • Act as a key interface between client, design teams, and delivery partners

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within utilities, power, or energy infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of grid connections, substations, HV/LV systems, or related infrastructure
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or mission-critical projects (data centres highly desirable)
  • Ability to operate across both pre-construction and delivery phases
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly with utility providers and regulatory bodies
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (preferred)

The Opportunity:

  • Opportunity to work on high-growth, mission-critical data centre developments
  • Exposure to both strategic front-end development and complex project delivery
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial environment with strong industry backing
  • Clear progression opportunities within a rapidly expanding sector
