Staff Software Engineer, Android Kernel/Systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience working with operating systems, computer architecture, embedded systems and Linux/Unix kernel, etc.
  • Experience in low level programming on C or C++.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with System Software in any of the following areas – ARM/ARM64 architecture, compilers, firmware, operating systems, linux kernel, filesystems/storage, device drivers, performance tuning, networking, tools, tests, virtualization, platform libraries, etc.
  • Knowledge of the Android platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and roll out features for billions of users.
  • Work on core system components including Memory Management, Scheduling, Power, Storage, Virtualization, Networking.
  • Scale development across a growing number of verticals (Wear, Auto, TV, Large Screen, etc.).
  • Create and maintain a reliable, secure and robust foundation for the Android software ecosystem.
  • Create and ship Generic Kernel Image for billions of devices.
