Job Description:

We are looking for a talented, creative, and positive team player to join our highly skilled data analytics team and play a key role in shaping and evolving our data reporting and analytics capabilities. The data analytics team at Runna is responsible for exploratory analysis and documentation of our data, designing reusable data models to make data more consumable for a wider audience, collaborating with key stakeholders to understand the business questions they’re trying to answer, and building dashboards/reports to visualise and present our data to a wider audience. You’ll work closely with the data engineering team to ingest and model data along with a variety of other stakeholders around the business to understand their specific reporting/data needs.

What you’ll be doing

  • Explore and understand our data ecosystem allowing you to carefully document observed behaviours
  • Build high quality data models serving as the foundation for the team to use and build out more complex models or use to drive reporting
  • Deliver business insights to key stakeholders to help them make better informed decisions on the direction of the product and business
  • Design and deliver engaging dashboards which intuitively deliver key insights
  • Collaborate with stakeholders around the business to understand the business questions they are trying to answer and converting those questions into technical solutions

What You’ll Bring To The Team

Key Experience

  • 5+ years in a Data Analytics, or Data Analytics Engineer role
  • 5+ years working with BI reporting tools and SQL
  • Strong experience designing and building data models
  • Strong experience working and communicating with stakeholders at all levels

Key Skills

  • Advanced SQL: You’re an expert in writing complex SQL queries to extract and model data from a variety of different data sources; your queries should be easy to read, efficient, and scalable.
  • Data Wrangling: Ability to understand and clean messy data, looking for opportunities to make our data more robust and easier to use.
  • Data Modelling: You craft high quality re‑usable data models according to industry best practice.
  • Data Warehouse Tools: Experience working with data warehouses (ideally Snowflake) and data at scale will be highly beneficial.
  • Python: Proven ability to write clean, performant, and well‑documented Python code for data cleansing, transformation, and analysis.
  • BI Dashboards: Expertise in BI/dashboarding tools to build compelling automated dashboards for our internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Source Control: Experience with source control (ideally GitHub).
  • Communication Skills: You will be a highly skilled communicator capable of taking complex technical solutions and explaining them to non‑technical stakeholders or taking business requirements and turning them into a technical specification for a dashboard/report.
  • Business Acumen: You have a strong understanding of how businesses operate and can leverage your knowledge to get to the root of the problems our stakeholders are facing and solve them.
  • Statistics: You have a strong understanding of statistics and can describe correlations in data to explain user behaviours.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: You are a skilled, supportive coach/mentor able to support more junior colleagues with technical implementation and advise on best practices.
  • Technical Leadership: You are an expert in data analytics solution design and can lead a project from inception to delivery. You actively contribute to setting standards for the whole team.
  • Experimentation: You have experience with experimentation and AB testing, including design, implementation and methodologies.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Relevant Degree: A degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or Data Science is great to have.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform or other IaC tools would be highly beneficial.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment: Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and experience with methodologies and tooling, such as GitHub actions, is beneficial but not required.
  • Fitness: Experience with fitness data (e.g. heart rate data, FIT files) or even a general interest in fitness will be beneficial for understanding the domain.
  • Marketing Data: Any experience with marketing data (e.g. Google Ads, Facebook/Meta, AppsFlyer etc.) will be extremely useful.

Salary And Benefits

We’re offering a salary of £82,875 – £97,500 per year, depending on experience, plus participation in Strava’s long‑term incentive (stock) programs.
