Position Overview

The Department of Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Texas A&M University‑Corpus Christi (TAMU‑CC) invites applications for a 9‑month, non‑tenure track position at the rank of Associate Clinical Professor of Architecture to begin as early as Summer 2026. This faculty position will support the new 2+2 Bachelor of Science in Architecture / Bachelor of Architecture programs being developed in conjunction with the Associate of Science in Architecture Program located at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. Students in the new programs will take their first two years of courses at Del Mar College and the last two or three years at TAMU‑CC, depending on the program (BS ARCH or BARCH). The program is expected to begin in the fall 2026 semester.

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in architectural practice, a passion for mentorship, and a commitment to expanding access to architectural education. Beyond teaching, the selected candidate will assist in developing a new architecture program, collaborating with administrators to shape innovative curricula, recruitment strategies, and pathways for students who may not traditionally pursue architecture.

Teaching Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities will include leading courses that blend theory with hands‑on application, ensuring students develop a deep understanding of architecture’s technical, aesthetic, and experiential dimensions. Teaching duties will include:

  • Upper‑level design studios and thesis projects;
  • Site planning, detailing, and sketching;
  • Beauty, phenomenology, and multisensory design; and
  • Research on human interactions with the built environment.

Program Coordination Responsibilities

In addition to teaching, the faculty member will serve as the program coordinator for the TAMU‑CC architecture programs. This person will support student engagement and professional development through administrative duties, including:

  • Career advising, helping students prepare for architectural practice;
  • Recruitment of new students, ensuring multifaceted and collaborative program growth;
  • Building relationships with alumni and architecture professionals;
  • Developing programs for students who are considered outliers, supporting alternative educational pathways;
  • Oversight of student organizations, fostering leadership, networking, and collaboration;
  • Program development, working closely with administrators to shape a new architecture program;
  • Expanding access, exploring creative methods to establish pathways for students from non‑traditional backgrounds; and
  • Establishing assessment policies and procedures in preparation for applications for accreditation for the new programs.

This position is ideal for an architect passionate about mentorship, program development, and broadening the reach of architectural education.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Architecture.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience at the assistant clinical professor or comparable rank.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in architectural practice.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the university level.
  • A track record in or interest in commitment to educational access and program innovation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Architectural license from a U. S. jurisdiction.
  • Industry connections and leadership skills.
