We’re working with a organisation investing in its cloud and data capabilities, and they’re looking for an Azure Cloud Engineer to play a key role in shaping and securing their Azure environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, collaborative IT team where you’ll have real ownership and influence across cloud infrastructure, security, and data platforms.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a secure and scalable Microsoft Azure environment, while supporting the organisation’s ongoing cloud transformation.
This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic input, giving you the opportunity to recommend and implement improvements across the wider IT landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and manage Azure services across compute, storage, networking and data platforms
- Lead migrations of on-premise systems to Azure
- Manage identity and access via Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Implement secure API integrations using API Management
- Optimise cloud environments for performance and cost
Data, Analytics & AI
- Support Microsoft Fabric and data platform integrations
- Deliver and govern Power BI solutions
- Contribute to AI and automation initiatives using Azure services
Security & Compliance
- Implement security best practices including Zero Trust and least privilege
- Manage Microsoft Defender suite across cloud and endpoints
- Support governance and compliance using Microsoft Purview
- Conduct risk assessments and security reviews
Automation & Monitoring
- Monitor environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Sentinel
- Provide insights on performance, usage and security
Governance & Cost Management
- Manage Azure licensing, billing and cost optimisation
- Support financial planning and cloud spend forecasting
- Maintain clear documentation and governance standards
What We’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
- Experience across cloud infrastructure, security, and data platforms
- Knowledge of tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, API Management and Entra ID
- Experience with automation / infrastructure-as-code (PowerShell, Terraform, etc.)
- Understanding of cloud security and compliance frameworks
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset
Desirable (but not essential)
- Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-500, AZ-305)
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, AI services or advanced analytics
- Background in cloud migrations and complex environments
