Job Description:

Overview

London/hybrid | £35k (entry) – £50k (experienced) + Share Options | Full-time/part-time

Who are we?

Occasio is a knowledge management company dedicated to building systems that safeguard human intelligence in the AI era. The company was founded in 2024 by Camilla, an urban architect & researcher with a passion for qualitative data integrity. Jason joined in 2025, bringing ten years of fullstack development expertise to the CTO role.

In October 2025, we launched our core web application: a collaborative insights management platform with integrated reference handling. Since then, the app has been used by thousands of people, particularly for collective knowledge capture during conferences, and by organisations for internal knowledge sharing.

Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking a founding Software Engineer to join us as our technical third. You should be a full-stack generalist by trade but a front-end specialist by choice – someone who lives at the intersection of code and design. The role includes designing, implementing, and testing code to ensure optimal performance and fixing software bugs. If you’re excited about taking a knowledge management product from its early foundations to a global scale and defining the trajectory of this company alongside us, we want to talk.

Why we’re hiring

  • To respond to user pain points and improve the user experience faster.
  • To partner with Jason to refine backend decisions and with Camilla on design.
  • To build team resilience.

Technical requirements

  • Ship high quality features and updates weekly by finding the shortest path to value.
  • Code in Go and TypeScript. You don’t need to know Go or TypeScript yet, but you must be ready to learn it.
  • Treat documentation (clear release notes & scope checklists) as a core part of the definition of done.
  • Use code reviews and knowledge sharing to eliminate single points of failure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and architectural issues independently.
  • An awareness of infrastructure as code (we use Pulumi).
  • An appreciation for automated testing (we use vitest, go test and Playwright).

Qualitative strengths

  • Care deeply about the product, our customers and roadmap, and building a healthy business.
  • Stay pragmatic by knowing when to write a quick script and when to build for scale.
  • Communicate clearly, openly, and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Remain patient and focused on adding value even under uncertain circumstances.
  • Listen intently to stakeholders and peers to ensure you’ve identified the root problem before you begin solving it.
  • Demonstrate tenacity when tackling complex, “un-searchable” challenges, staying committed until a robust solution is found.
  • You’ll have a direct hand in both software and business strategy, ensuring your code moves the needle on our MRR rather than being a cog in a machine.
  • We build systems instead of a “hero culture” to protect sustainable hours and offline peace, as we believe overwork is usually a result of bad planning.
  • You will get a front-row seat to scaling a startup from its earliest days while earning real founding equity share options in the company you are helping to build.

The fine print

  • All applicants must have a legal right to work in the UK that is valid for at least 15 months from their start date.
  • We are based between London and Edinburgh. We meet at our Camden Collective office at least four days per month, though you are welcome to work from the London space as often as you like.
  • We are happy to discuss part-time arrangements if that is the right fit for your circumstances.
  • Our starting salary reflects our early-stage status and is paired with founding equity share options and a commitment to increase compensation as we hit our MRR milestones.

How to apply

Please apply by filling out this online form: forms.gle/z2Zsochcr8vhDyfh9

We’ll ask you to share your resume and a few supporting words describing:

  • Why you care about what we are building and want to be a part of it.
  • The most beautifully ordinary piece of software you’ve ever written.
  • One specific thing you would address first in our current UI/UX.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Camilla on LinkedIn.
