Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market‑leading Energy company to recruit a Project Engineer for their Energy from Waste Power Stations in Bicester and Croydon. The main purpose of the role is to deliver engineering changes to increase the Maximum Continuous Rating of the plants.
The Project Engineer will receive a salary of up to c.£75,000 plus a car allowance, bonus, private healthcare and other benefits. This is a 3‑year fixed‑term contract with the possibility of future opportunities in the wider business.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Increase the Maximum Continuous Rating of the two ERF facilities.
- Work closely with OEMs, contractors, site teams and central engineering to develop technical solutions.
- Integrate projects into outages.
- Manage contractor performance.
- Ensure all works comply with safety, quality and compliance standards.
- Attend HAZOP reviews as well as FATs/SATs, which may involve travelling abroad.
Professional Qualifications
- Ideally HNC qualified, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline.
- A project management qualification would be desirable.
- An IOSH or NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification would be desirable.
- A full UK driving licence (travel to other sites is required).
Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge
- Prior engineering/maintenance knowledge in heavy process engineering environments with power preference (paper mills, steel works, cement, refineries, etc.).
- Good understanding of PSSR legislation.
- Experience in project management practices.
- Experience managing contractors and delivering complex engineering projects.
- Knowledge of CMMS systems.
- ISO 55001 awareness would be ideal.
