Pre Litigated Credit Hire File Handler

Description
You will pursue settlement of a pre‑litigation credit hire file as soon as practicable, ensuring Client Guidelines are adhered to. Responsibilities include reviewing files, formulating an initial strategy, initiating telephone negotiations with Credit Hire Organisations, liaising with insurers as necessary, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Review pre‑proceedings files, noting and abiding by Client Guidelines
- Formulate initial strategy
- Implement agreed strategy
- Undertake telephone negotiations with Credit Hire Organisations
- Pursue settlement as quickly as possible
- Liaise with insurers where necessary
- Ensure actions are carried out as per Action Lists in the Case Management System
- Ensure files are kept within ISO 9001 guidelines
- Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations
- Adhere to Keoghs Values
- Work Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with 1 hour unpaid for lunch
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Education – at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent are essential and a degree is preferable.
- Ability to use own initiative.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
- Good telephone negotiation skills.
- Ability to follow work processes and keep to strategy.
- Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required.
- Ability to make decisions.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Good IT skills including Word, Outlook, and experience of a Case Management System preferred.
- Experience of credit hire is essential; applicant should have at least 6 months exposure to credit hire cases.
- Technical knowledge to be developed: understanding of pre‑proceedings credit hire and the life cycle of a file.
- Personal development: opportunity to develop legal skills under supervision; further career progression depends on aptitude and desire to move into other business units; leadership potential may progress to deputy and team leader roles.
