Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Credit Hire File Handler to join our Legal team in Newcastle. This role offers an excellent opportunity to investigate complex credit hire claims up to £25,000 in value and contribute to reducing overall spend for our insurer clients.
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out complex and technical investigations on credit hire claims submitted from specific opponents.
- Use own initiative, plan and prioritise workloads, and follow work processes to stay on strategy.
- Communicate effectively, including excellent listening, verbal communication, telephone negotiation, and sensitivity when required.
- Make decisions and remain calm under pressure.
- Use IT skills including Word and Outlook; experience of a Case Management System is preferred.
- Maintain own case load and manage credit hire files effectively.
- Adhere to Keoghs values.
Technical Knowledge to be Developed
- Understanding of Pre Proceedings Credit Hire
- The life cycle of a file
- Knowledge of common law and litigation principles
- Understanding of costs and protective offers
- Preparation of a case for litigation

Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Hybrid role: 1 day in office and 4 days from home.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- At least 12 months handling credit hire cases.
- Education – at least 5 GCSEs; a degree or LPC is preferable.
- Ability to use own initiative, plan and prioritise workloads, and make decisions.
- Excellent listening, verbal communication and telephone negotiation skills.
- Good IT skills including Word and Outlook; experience of a Case Management System preferred.
- Ability to follow work processes and keep to strategy.
- Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required.
- Remain calm under pressure.
