Software Engineer

Company: Recruit with Purpose
Apply for the Software Engineer
Location: Greater London
Job Description:

What if your code didn’t just power products but helped people live better lives?

Recruit with purpose are supporting one of the UK’s largest housing associations in the UK.

They’re a purpose-driven organisation working at the heart of communities, providing safe, affordable homes and essential services to hundreds of thousands of people. Technology plays a critical role in how we deliver that mission and we’re looking for a Software Engineer who wants their work to truly matter.

This isn’t just another engineering job.

Every system you build, every feature you deliver, and every improvement you make contributes to something bigger: helping people access housing, support services, and opportunities that can change lives.

If you’re motivated by impact as much as innovation, you’ll feel right at home here.

What you will be doing in this role?

As part of a collaborative, cross‑functional engineering squad, you will:

  • Design and build robust, scalable software solutions from user stories and business requirements
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Analysts to deliver high‑quality features
  • Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and agile ceremonies
  • Help improve team performance, quality, and delivery standards
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for critical production issues when needed
  • Ensure all solutions align with wider architectural and engineering standards

What the day to day will look like:

  • You’ll be embedded in a modern engineering environment where collaboration is key:
  • Work in agile squads with shared ownership of delivery
  • Partner with colleagues across multiple teams to deliver meaningful outcomes
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and learning
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure technology meets real user needs

What skills they want you to bring:

  • Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, MVC or similar technologies
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices
  • SQL experience
  • React.js would be a ‘nice to have’ but not essential
  • Experience working in agile environments
  • Knowledge of test‑driven development (TDD)

What is on offer to you?

  • Hybrid working up to 2 days a week on site (London or Manchester)
  • Salary dependant on experience and location – Circa £45,000 – £55,000
  • 28 days holiday + Bank holidays
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Up to a 12% Pension match
  • Private Health Care cash plan
  • Further benefits to compliment this

If this role sounds like it could be an interesting fit for your next position, I would love to hear from you.
