The Role:
As Credit Controller, you'll play a key role in managing cash flow, reducing aged debt, and maintaining strong customer relationships in a fast-moving environment. You'll take ownership of the sales ledger while working closely with internal teams to drive results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively contact debtors via phone, email, and written communication to recover outstanding balances
- Maintain regular communication with Sales Managers to review and reduce aged debt
- Manage and maintain the sales ledger, ensuring accurate customer and transaction records
- Negotiate payment terms and work to bring accounts back within agreed terms
- Investigate and resolve customer queries and disputes efficiently
- Ensure cash collection and debtor targets are consistently achieved
- Escalate overdue or high‑risk accounts to senior stakeholders where necessary
- Handle high‑volume, fast‑moving accounts across multiple payment channels
- Allocate payments and manage inbox queries within agreed SLAs
- Open new customer accounts and perform relevant checks
- Process credit notes accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide Sales teams with regular debt reporting and insights
- Support month‑end, year‑end processes, and audit requirements
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency within the sales ledger function
About You:
- Proven experience in Credit Control or a similar finance role
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Proactive, solutions‑focused approach
- Comfortable working cross‑functionally with Sales and Finance teams
- Good Excel and systems knowledge
