Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation of the Council's accounts.
- Act as the main expert on financial accounting rules and advise the Council's finance officer.
- Maintain the Council's financial control system, ensuring regular reconciliations.
- Communicate and manage relationships with External Auditors.
- Handle year-end capital and asset accounting processes.
- Provide financial accounting advice to support decision-making and financial modeling.
- Complete VAT returns and offer corporate advice on VAT matters.
- Have overall responsibility for the Balance Sheet.
- Manage improvements in the Council's financial systems and reporting.
Person Specifications
Must Have
- CCAB qualification.
- Ability to work in a hybrid setting, with office attendance once a week and occasional evening meetings.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a similar role within a public sector organization.
- Strong communication skills for presenting to directors and councillors.
