We are seeking a skilled and resilient Registered Manager to oversee a 1-bed children’s residential home. You will lead a small, dedicated team to provide high-quality, therapeutic care for a child with complex needs, trauma backgrounds, or emotional and behavioural challenges. This role offers the chance to make a direct and lasting impact, ensuring the home is safe, nurturing, and fully compliant with regulatory standards.

Role Purpose

As Registered Manager, you will be Ofsted-registered for the home and responsible for its leadership, operational management, and strategic direction. You will ensure the home delivers exceptional care, safeguards the child, and supports recovery from trauma in line with their individual care plan.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operation of the 1-bed children’s home, ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where the child feels valued, respected, and supported.
  • Develop and implement personalised care strategies, monitoring progress and celebrating achievements.
  • Recruit, induct, and manage staff, fostering a culture of reflection, accountability, and professional development.
  • Oversee staff rotas, training, supervisions, and appraisals.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively while maintaining high-quality care.
  • Build strong working relationships with local authorities, social workers, education providers, and health professionals.
  • Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and lead continuous improvement.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of the child at all times, embedding policies and procedures in practice.
  • Report to the Responsible Individual on performance, challenges, and progress.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Additional qualifications in therapeutic approaches, social work, psychology, or trauma-informed practice.
  • Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed care and multi‑agency collaboration.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years as a Registered Manager in a children’s residential home.
  • Proven track record of achieving “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted ratings.
  • Experience leading and developing staff teams.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and children’s legislation.
  • Budget and resource management experience.
