About the Role
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen within Barnsley Children and Family Social Care Services for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Practice Development Hub. This is an ideal role for a forward‑thinking, motivated, and dedicated social worker passionate about developing others and driving high‑quality practice.
You will play a key role in shaping and embedding Barnsley’s “Stronger Together” practice model, supporting the continuous professional development of social workers and ensuring the delivery of outstanding services for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and assess student social workers on placement within Barnsley
- Act as a key member of the Social Work Academy
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) during their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- Design and deliver high‑quality training aligned with the Barnsley “Stronger Together” practice model
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance Team to embed learning from audits into practice
- Promote and strengthen multi‑agency working and partnership approaches
- Ensure teams have access to effective tools and resources to support professional development
- Provide mentoring and ongoing support to colleagues across Children’s Services
