About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and vigilant Safeguarding Officer to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. You will play a key role in promoting a safe environment, responding to safeguarding concerns, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and disclosures
- Identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding risks in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date safeguarding records
- Work closely with internal teams and external agencies (e.g., social services, law enforcement)
- Support the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Deliver safeguarding training and awareness sessions to staff
- Monitor and ensure compliance with safeguarding standards and regulations
- Participate in case reviews, audits, and risk assessments
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field
- Proven experience in a safeguarding, child protection, or welfare role
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practices
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision‑making skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
- Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills
Desirable Skills
- Safeguarding certification or advanced training
- Experience working in education, healthcare, or community settings
- Knowledge of risk assessment frameworks and case management systems
- Ability to deliver training and workshops
