Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our innovative and enthusiastic Diabetes and Endocrinology team. We provide a full range of diabetes and endocrine services including collaboration with the tertiary services provided at NBT: regional Pituitary and Adrenal surgery, Tier 3 Weight management as well as the Vascular Hub. Applicants are required to be on the specialist register for Diabetes and Endocrinology as well as General Internal Medicine, and have a CCT in both (or equivalent) or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview. There are two vacancies: one for 8 PAs and one for 0.9 PAs.

Main Duties of the Job

This post presents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic department practising from a newly built, state of the art 800-bed hospital. You will join the existing WTE NHS Consultants providing Diabetes and Endocrinology service to our population of 500,000 in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We are first and foremost seeking outstanding candidates to join our team. Advanced sleep medicine and care of patients with pulmonary hypertension and cystic fibrosis are led by other hospitals in the region and are not services provided at NBT. We are principally looking for new colleagues with the ambition to help us evolve our models of care to deliver outstanding and personally delivered services to our patients. The postholder will have commitments within the base Acute trust (NBT), Endocrine and Diabetes department at NBT. The appointee will be contractually accountable to the North Bristol NHS Trust for the provision of services and managerially responsible to the Chief Executive through the Clinical Director. All consultants are required to undergo an annual appraisal in accordance with the Trust policy and to take an active and co‑operative approach to job planning. The service is led by a specialty lead (Dr Elizabeth Cheyne) supported by a General Manager (Graham Bartlett) and a Specialty Manager (Jade Venning).
