The Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) is a 5‑bedbed, acute admissions ward situated within Western Isles Hospital. We provide inpatient care for the population of the Western Isles, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The post requires day and night rotational working.
Responsibilities
- Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and treatment
- Liaising with carers, other professionals and third sector services
- Role of named nurse for individual patients and taking charge of shifts
- Good team working and excellent communication skills are essential
- Provide up‑to‑date clinical practice in response to local and national guidelines
- Participate in ongoing CPD, clinical supervision and annual appraisals
Qualifications
- Recent experience of working in Mental Health Services is essential
