Cancer Fund for Children’s mission is to ensure that no child or young person across the island of Ireland have to face cancer alone. The charity has over 30 years’ experience delivering support and services to children, teenagers and young adults living with cancer and their families.
Our aim is to connect, empower and strengthen children and young people and their families so they are better equipped to deal with the impact of cancer. We do this by providing emotional and social support in the family home, in communities across Ireland, on the hospital ward and at our therapeutic short break centre.
We are seeking a passionate, proactive, and relationship-driven Community Fundraising Officer to help expand Cancer Fund for Children’s impact across Northern Ireland. This is a dynamic role at the heart of our mission, working closely with the Regional Fundraising & Engagement Lead and the wider Fundraising Team to inspire communities, ignite partnerships, and champion our cause.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Campaign and Income Delivery
- Drive community income and deliver impactful fundraising activity by planning, delivering, and supporting community and supporter-led fundraising initiatives as well as Cancer Fund for Children campaigns, ensuring achievement of income targets and KPIs.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Fundraising Team to ensure maximum cross selling, share insights and ensure events and campaigns are promoted effectively.
- Grow Cancer Fund for Children’s supporter base by building strong engagement with schools, clubs, local businesses, and community groups to expand both income and participation in events and campaigns.
- Build awareness and strengthen our profile in the region by working closely with the Communications team and networking with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
2. Volunteer and Supporter Engagement
- Provide guidance, motivation and recognition to volunteers and local community supporters, ensuring they feel equipped, recognised, informed, and motivated to deliver successful events that reflect Cancer Fund for Children’s values.
- Implement tailored supporter journeys that reflect each supporters own participation type, ensuring donor-centred experiences that deepen connection and increase lifetime value.
- Deliver exceptional supporter care, proactively maintaining, developing, and strengthening relationships with current, new, and prospective contacts.
- Oversee logistics, marketing and PR needs for local fundraising events held on behalf of Cancer Fund for Children, ensuring adherence to fundraising legalities and best practice, collaborating when needed, with the Brand, Marketing and Communications Team.
3. Monitoring, Reporting & Planning
- Track and evaluate performance by monitoring income and expenditure against budget and using the CRM and through review meetings with the Regional Fundraising Lead.
- Contribute to accurate regional budgeting and forecasting, contributing financial insights and supporting the development of regional income plans.
- Prepare clear, timely written reports on progress in your area as required by the Regional Fundraising Lead and Manager.
- Champion innovation in local, peer‑to‑peer, and events fundraising, testing new approaches both online and offline to increase reach, retention, and boost overall supporter satisfaction.
4. Operations & Compliance
- Actively contribute to team collaboration by participating fully in regular and full divisional team meetings.
- Maintain, update, and proactively manage supporter data by ensuring clear, timely, accurate high‑quality updates on the CRM system (CHAMP), supporting effective stewardship, reporting and compliance with GDPR.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, taking part in relevant training opportunities.
- Prepare for and participate fully in planning, review, support and appraisal meetings.
- Comply with all Cancer Fund for Children Policies, procedures and guidelines and current legislative requirements.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager to contribute to the overall aims of Cancer Fund for Children.
