About The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join the Quality and Performance Excellence team at our Birchwood facilities in Warrington to support the growth and development of the Technology division of Amentum. Your role will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Promoting quality and fostering a quality culture where everyone understands their role in ensuring that our products, people, processes, and services meet or exceed their stated requirements.
  • Acting as the Responsible Weld Co‑ordinator for welding activities within the division.
  • Maintaining and developing the weld capability within the technology division.
  • Championing knowledge sharing and continuous improvement to ensure consistent application of quality best practices across the business unit.
  • Acting as a local point of contact to provide expertise on relevant topics such as Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Audits, Non‑Conformance Reporting, and others as required.
  • Supporting the generation and application of digital tools for efficient monitoring, reporting and management of quality metrics.
  • Supporting the internal audit schedule, undertaking internal audits to ensure effective implementation of the division’s management system and that client expectations, external certifications (e.g., ISO 9001:2015) and external accreditations (e.g., ISO 17020:2012) are achieved.
  • Collaborating with project teams to proactively identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Supporting project governance activities, providing quality oversight of technical laboratory‑based activities and rig‑based manufacturing activities.
  • Assisting the division with activities relating to gaining EN 1090 accreditation.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain SC level Security Clearance.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence others and build effective relationships across the technology division.
  • HNC/HND/Degree qualified or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience acting as a Responsible Weld Co‑ordinator.
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of the Quality function, supporting large projects/programmes within highly regulated industries.
  • Experience of undertaking and reporting internal audits.
  • Experience dealing with non‑conformities.
  • Understanding of project documentation arrangements, particularly the application of quality control plans.
  • Proficiency in standard computer programmes including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Team player with the ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel off‑site as required.
  • Strong ethos relating to Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Desirable

  • Security cleared to SC level.
  • Previous experience using JPI/SharePoint.
  • Previous experience working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Appropriate academic qualification.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Auditor training to ISO 9001:2015 (internal).
  • Knowledge of ISO 17020:2012.
  • Knowledge of ISO 1090.
  • Knowledge of NDE testing techniques.
  • Mechanical Engineering awareness.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the principles and standards relating to Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Security applicable to a highly regulated nuclear environment.
