Electrical Engineer

Shifts

12‑hour shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am). Week 1: 4 night shifts, 3 days off. Week 2: 3 day shifts, 1 day off, 3 night shifts. Week 3: 3 days off, 4 day shifts. Then: 7 days off.

Overview

The Electrical Shift Engineer will support site operations by carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across electrical plant and equipment. The role requires strong fault‑finding skills, a proactive approach to maintenance, and the ability to work safely and effectively within a busy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and complete all associated documentation accurately.
• Conduct fault finding, planned maintenance, and reactive repairs on electrical plant and equipment.
• Support team members as required to ensure smooth and safe site operations.
• Complete electrical installations, modifications, and system upgrades.
• Supervise visiting subcontractors, ensuring safe working practices and high‑quality workmanship.
• Maintain a flexible approach to support operational needs.
• Ensure all work complies with site safety standards and statutory requirements.

Skills & Experience

• Recognised electrical qualification or time‑served experience.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations – advantageous but not essential.
• Experience working with:
• Power supplies
• Lighting systems
• Meters
• Circuit boards
• Pumps
• Strong ability to diagnose electrical faults and carry out effective repairs.
• Experience with HV switching – advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation skills.
