Overview
Location: Gloucestershire or Remote (with significant travel). Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are recruiting for a Supplier Compliance Engineer to join our Quality Compliance team. The role supports ensuring the global supply chain meets aerospace standards. This role can be based in Gloucestershire or remotely, with regular international travel required.

The Role
As a Supplier Compliance Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining a compliant and high-performing supply chain, ensuring our suppliers meet stringent aerospace quality and regulatory standards. You’ll conduct supplier audits, support onboarding and qualification activities, and drive improvements in supplier performance and compliance. You’ll work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues, ensure containment, and perform robust root cause analysis. You’ll also carry out source inspections at supplier sites to verify product conformity prior to shipment and alignment with engineering and customer requirements. This is a highly visible, field-based role requiring regular travel to supplier sites (up to 80%), where you’ll partner to strengthen supplier capability, improve processes, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Conduct supplier audits and support onboarding and qualification activities.
- Drive improvements in supplier performance and supplier compliance.
- Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues, including containment and root cause analysis.
- Carry out source inspections at supplier sites to verify conformance to engineering and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to strengthen supplier capability and processes.
Qualifications
- Experience in supplier quality, compliance, or manufacturing in a regulated industry such as aerospace.
- Deep understanding of relevant standards such as AS9100 and hands-on experience conducting supplier audits and managing quality issues through to resolution.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based role, build strong supplier relationships, and influence internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with recognised root cause analysis methodologies and the ability to produce detailed, high-quality reports.
- Willingness to travel extensively, including internationally.
- Relevant engineering qualification and Lead Auditor certification would be highly advantageous.
