Senior Electrical Design Engineer Overview
My client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a building services background to join their design team. This role is suited to someone capable of working independently within a contracting environment, delivering detailed electrical building services designs across commercial and industrial projects.
The position involves design development through to installation, commissioning, and handover, with a strong emphasis on electrical building services and coordination. The successful candidate will also be responsible for compliance with relevant UK regulations.
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer Role Will Involve
- Produce and review electrical designs for commercial and industrial projects
- Work independently and manage own workload
- Prepare technical reports and specifications
- Carry out Part L energy assessments and ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations
- Review and verify designs before construction
- Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure the builder's work requirements are met
- Support project delivery through to installation and commissioning
Required Attributes
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within Building Services
- Able to work independently
- Solid understanding of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems
- Knowledge of Part L assessments and energy compliance
- Knowledge of Stage 4 design and construction coordination
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Revit experience is beneficial but not essential
