Geotechnical Engineer: great opportunity at a leading and reputable SME Multidisciplinary Consultancy. This role is based in Wigan.

Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary consultancy practice operating across the North West of England. With over three decades of experience, they deliver civil, structural, and geotechnical/geo environmental engineering solutions across residential, commercial, and education sectors.

The business has a strong reputation in the residential development sector and following acquisition by a larger engineering group, they are entering an exciting phase of growth and diversification, expanding their portfolio of projects.

They are seeking a confident and skilled engineer who can operate independently while contributing to wider project teams. This role requires a technically strong engineer capable of managing investigations, interpreting ground conditions, and contributing to design recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake site investigations
• Conduct soil and rock logging
• Coordinate laboratory testing programmes
• Interpret geotechnical data and prepare technical reports
• Provide foundation and ground engineering recommendations
• Liaise with civil engineers and multidisciplinary teams
• Ensure compliance with UK standards and best practice
• Support project delivery from investigation through to design

Requirements

Essential

• 3–6 years’ geotechnical consultancy background
• Strong soil and rock logging capability
• Background preparing interpretative geotechnical reports
• Understanding of UK geotechnical design standards
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Full UK Manual Driving Licence

Desirable

• Background supporting infrastructure or residential developments
• Progression toward professional accreditation
