Description

This role supports the delivery, optimisation and ongoing management of clinical systems across DMC Healthcare, with a primary focus on SystmOne. The Clinical Application Specialist will act as the subject matter expert for clinical applications, supporting clinical teams, improving system utilisation, troubleshooting issues and ensuring safe, efficient and compliant use of digital systems across services. The postholder will also lead the identification, procurement and implementation of new clinical systems and digital solutions, project‑managing these from initial scoping through to full deployment and optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist support and management of clinical applications, with a strong focus on SystmOne.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for system‑related queries, configuration, optimisation and troubleshooting.
  • Lead on the procurement, implementation and project management of new clinical systems and digital solutions.
  • Support clinical teams in effective system use, ensure data quality and compliance, and contribute to service development, reporting and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure effective and safe use of SystmOne across all services.
  • Provide timely support and resolution for system issues and user queries.
  • Optimise system configuration to improve clinical workflows and efficiency.
  • Project‑manage system deployments from planning through to go‑live and post‑implementation review.
  • Support onboarding, training and competency development for system users.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, governance and compliance.
  • Contribute to reporting, audit and performance monitoring through system data.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives and continuous system improvement.
  • Configure and maintain templates, pathways, forms and system settings.
  • Support onboarding of new services and ensure correct system setup.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure systems meet clinical and operational needs.
  • Deliver training sessions and support materials for clinical and administrative staff.
  • Monitor system usage and identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  • Liaise with system suppliers and IT teams for escalations, updates and system changes.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Advanced knowledge of SystmOne configuration, templates, user roles and reporting.
  • Understanding of clinical workflows and how systems support patient pathways.
  • Ability to lead procurement processes including requirement gathering, supplier engagement and evaluation.
  • Ability to manage projects including planning, stakeholder engagement, timelines and delivery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving capability.
  • Strong training and communication skills for supporting system users.
  • Ability to analyse data and support reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of governance, data quality and system compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across clinical, operational and external supplier teams.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with SystmOne in a healthcare environment, supporting system users and resolving technical or workflow issues.
  • Experience with system configuration, optimisation or implementation.
  • Delivering or supporting digital projects or system rollouts.
  • Working with clinical teams and understanding service delivery needs.
  • Supporting audits, reporting or performance monitoring through system data.
  • Managing or contributing to procurement or implementation of clinical systems is desirable.

Desirable

  • Experience procuring clinical systems or digital healthcare solutions.
  • Experience in project management including system implementation and service mobilisation.
  • Experience creating templates, protocols or pathways within SystmOne.
  • Experience working with reporting tools, data extraction and performance dashboards.
  • Experience working within NHS or outsourced healthcare services.
  • Understanding of eRS, referral pathways or digital integration tools.

Additional Information

The role may require travel across sites depending on service needs. Flexibility in working hours may be required to support system changes, implementations or go‑lives. Ongoing professional development and system training will be supported. Strong emphasis on SystmOne expertise and project delivery capability is required for this role.
