The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be critical to keeping production running safely, efficiently, and reliably. You’ll work on a variety of mechanical plant and equipment, supporting both day-to-day output and long-term performance improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned mechanical maintenance on production plant and equipment
  • Delivering reactive and corrective maintenance, minimising downtime and production losses
  • Improving and modifying machinery to maximise availability, reliability, and performance
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and advising site management on effective solutions
  • Supporting engineering projects, installations, and refurbishments
  • Completing dynamic risk assessments and maintaining safe systems of work
  • Managing spare parts awareness and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation
  • Updating and administering the CMMS
  • Contributing to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
  • Providing maintenance updates during daily production and operational review meetings

About You

You’ll be a strong fit if you have:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
  • Background working in production, manufacturing, or processing environments. Ideally you will have worked as a Mechanical Engineer or Technician in the waste & recycling sector.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive approach to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement
