We’re recruiting a Purchasing Manager to join a global manufacturer specialising in network infrastructure and fibre connectivity, supporting telecoms, electronics and industrial markets.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring cost‑effective sourcing, supplier performance and material availability across a dynamic manufacturing operation.
You’ll play a central part in:
- Maintaining efficient, cost‑competitive supply chains
- Supporting production through strong materials planning and availability
- Driving improvements in stock control, supplier performance and cost efficiency
Key Responsibilities
- Source and manage suppliers across UK, Europe and global markets
- Negotiate pricing, contracts and long‑term supplier agreements
- Monitor and improve supplier performance (cost, quality, OTIF)
- Drive cost reduction and inventory optimisation initiatives
- Support budgeting and purchasing strategy
- Analyse spend, materials usage and make‑vs‑buy decisions
- Ensure compliance with procurement, quality and operational standards
- Lead and develop a small purchasing/logistics team (2 members)
About You
- Proven experience in Purchasing / Procurement / Supply Chain
- Background in manufacturing, engineering, telecoms or technology environments
- Experience with Sage is Essential
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation ability
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with day‑to‑day operational delivery
- Confident managing suppliers across international markets
- A basic salary of up to £55,000
- 28 days holiday
- 08:00 to 16:45 Monday to Tuesday, Friday 8am – 12.30pm
- Based onsite, Northampton
