Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design engineer to join our engineering team. In this hands‑on role, you will support the design and production of electrical and instrumentation documentation, working closely with Control Engineers to develop high-quality drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. You will be instrumental in producing P&IDs, control panel GAs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, hook‑up drawings, Boolean logic schematics, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyse customer specifications and project documentation
- Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical, including:
- P&IDs
- Wiring diagrams
- Control panel GAs (Local and PLC panels)
- Loop and hook‑up drawings
- Boolean logic diagrams
- Assist Controls Engineers in developing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Support workshop personnel with design clarifications and updates during production
- Review and incorporate customer comments and mark‑ups
- Produce accurate as-built documentation
- Conduct drawing checks for accuracy and compliance
- Use MS Office and web-based systems to manage project files and communications
About You
- Qualification in Engineering (Electrical/Instrumentation preferred) or equivalent industry experience
- Proven experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, comprehensive electrical and control system drawings
- Experience with control panels, wiring layouts, and instrumentation design
- P&ID creation experience is highly desirable
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Self‑motivated, assertive, and confident in your technical abilities
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Additional Requirements
Must hold a full, valid UK driving licence
