Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support the operation of a butt weld fittings manufacturing facility. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a range of legacy and modern machinery used in forming, machining, and finishing processes. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on technical skills, a proactive mindset, and experience working with older mechanical and electromechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on manufacturing equipment to minimise downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic faults in machinery.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns and implement effective corrective actions.
- Refurbish, retrofit, and modify aging equipment to improve performance and safety.
- Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and spare parts inventory.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in installation and commissioning of replacement or upgraded machinery.

Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience maintaining older/legacy industrial machinery.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Basic to intermediate electrical knowledge (motors, fuses, relays).
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Practical problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on approach.
- Experience in manufacturing, preferably metal forming or pipe/fittings industry.
Desirable Qualifications
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Apprenticeship‑trained engineer.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Experience retrofitting or modernizing legacy equipment.

- Flexible approach to working hours (including emergency call‑outs if required).
Working Conditions
