Senior Assembly Technician | Oxford | £35,000 - £45,000
My client is a leading organisation in the space sector, known for delivering cutting-edge mission technology and supporting high-profile international space programmes. They are seeking a Senior Assembly Technician to join their team.
The Role
As a Senior Assembly Technician, you will play a key role within the Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) function, supporting the build and integration of high-precision space hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and integrate mechanical and electrical components, sub-assemblies, and systems in accordance with technical drawings and work instructions
- Perform electrical wiring, cable harnessing and connector terminations to recognised industry standards (e.g. IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620)
- Carry out soldering and rework activities in line with IPC-J-STD-001
- Create and maintain risk assessments
- Accurately record test data and complete all required project and quality documentation
Key Skills and Experience
- ONC / HNC / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 5-10 years' experience in a hands-on assembly, integration or test role, ideally within aerospace, defence or electronics
- Strong practical skills in mechanical fitting, wiring and assembly
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience using hand tools, torque tools and test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes)
