Location: Orpington, West Sussex (Worthing, Crawley), Poole
Salary: £36.3k per annum, increasing to £40.4k after successful completion of probationary period (plus £6000 sign‑on bonus if fully qualified). Earn potential increases further once qualified.

Overview
We are looking for Qualified NCO2s to join our team of Gas Engineers. SGN has an outstanding reputation for delivering gas safely, reliably, and efficiently — and every engineer plays a key role in keeping our customers safe and warm. We also welcome applications from experienced Service Layers (minimum 3–4 years’ experience) who wish to progress and complete training to become fully qualified Main Layers.
Responsibilities
- Work primarily on gas service and mains replacement activities, excavating in public and private highways for laying and repairing gas pipes.
- Operate in a variety of outdoor environments, working safely as part of a team.
- Use computer field systems.
- Achieve high standards of safety and technical competence.
- Mentor trainee engineers.
What You’ll Need
- Qualifications (Required): GN01, GN02 (Main Layer) or GNO1, GNO2 Service Layer experience (3–4 years minimum) with willingness to complete Main Layer training.
- Qualifications (Preferred but not essential): NRSWA, ELR, SCO 1, 2, 4, 5.
- A full and valid driving licence.
- Confidence using technology and field‑based systems.
- A friendly and approachable attitude with excellent customer service skills.
