Junior Test Engineer
We are looking for a Junior Test Engineer with experience in system level testing of RF systems, and prior exposure to the Space or Defence industry. The role is suited to an Electronic / Telecommunications Engineer with strong hands‑on laboratory skills and familiarity with RF instrumentation.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and configuration of test facilities and test benches
- Calibration and verification of RF test equipment
- Execution of system‑level RF tests (functional, performance, etc.)
- Creation and maintenance of test plans, test reports and non‑conformance documentation
- Perform first‑level quality inspection of test specimens and conduct initial fault isolation and troubleshooting at system and sub‑system level
- Log, track, and support closure of defects in collaboration with systems and design team
- Ensure testing activities comply with project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements
Qualifications
- Electronic / Telecommunications Engineer with strong hands‑on laboratory skills and familiarity with RF instrumentation
- Proficiency and hands‑on experience with RF test instruments including RF signal generators / RF simulators, spectrum analysers, power meters, and network analysers (VNA – basic to intermediate usage)
- Proficiency with general electronic test equipment such as oscilloscope (digital storage oscilloscope for signal integrity, timing, noise analysis) and multimeter (voltage, current, continuity, resistance checks during integration and fault finding)
- Basic knowledge of attenuators, couplers, splitters, RF cabling, connectors, and grounding concepts

Additional Information
- All roles require a level of security clearance (BPSS or Security Clearance or Developed Vetting)
- 6‑month fixed‑term contract role requiring presence in the Portsmouth office 5 days a week with rotational shifts (6:00 AM–2:00 PM / 2:00 PM–10:00 PM)
