Job title: Electrical Installation Engineer

Our Electrical Installation Engineers play a pivotal role in delivering our mission by completing installation and project work on critical power equipment at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out full electrical installations and commissioning on a wide variety of critical power equipment.
  • Carry out load bank testing, site surveys, inspections, fault finding, repairs, training and testing of critical power equipment and electrical installations.
  • Qualified supervisor (QS) with responsibility for NICEIC compliance under the instruction of the Electrical Supervisor PDH.
  • Supervision of electrical installation teams and electrical installs (site supervisor / AP / AE).
  • Have responsibility for and enforce health and safety and other legal requirements relating to the range of electrical work the business undertakes.
  • Ensure that all electrical work undertaken or arranged is carried out by competent persons who are appropriately supervised.
  • Ensure that the appropriate certificates and reports are issued for all completed electrical work.
  • Accurately complete all service visit reports and records in a timely manner.
  • Work unsociable hours including weekends and bank holidays as determined by the needs of the business.
  • Mentor and assist with on‑the‑job training and supervision of apprentices and junior engineers.
  • Train and instruct customers, engineers and subordinates on relevant procedures as required.
  • Estimate the time and materials required for remedial jobs and submit reports; initiate requirements for supplies, tools, and equipment as necessary to complete jobs.
  • Highlight and report additional sales opportunities and leads.
  • Train and instruct personnel in the safe operation of equipment and tools.
  • Provide expertise in electrical and control systems.
  • Complete installation, commissioning, SAT, FAT and customer training of installations, control systems and machinery.
  • Install and configure connectivity options via telemetry, BMS and associated devices.
  • Provide specific technical expertise for projects and design department.
  • Complete accurate and in-depth site surveys to support sales quotes and project planning.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties or tasks as determined by the needs of the business.

  • Provide support and cooperation to the senior management team and contribute to the achievement of business goals.
  • Ensure continuing professional development by taking ownership of own learning and that of the department, and undertake relevant training opportunities.

Person Specification / Qualifications

  • Experience of electrical installation, fault diagnostics and maintenance of critical power equipment.
  • Must have appropriate engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or similar), BS7671 18th Edition, Inspection and test, ECS gold card.
  • Awareness of legislative requirements and latest standards.

  • Strong analytical and fault finding skills.
