We are looking for a motivated and technically minded Trainee Test Engineer to join our New Installations team. This role is ideal for someone who is either about to start their NVQ Level 4 in Testing and Commissioning, is part‑way through their NVQ Level 4, or already holds NVQ Level 4 in New Installations and is looking to progress into testing.
Our New Installations team operates UK‑wide, so location is flexible for the right candidate. Regular travel and site attendance will be a key part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Supporting Test Engineers and Installation teams during the testing and commissioning of new lift installations
- Attending site visits to observe, assist and gradually take on testing activities
- Assisting with testing, inspection, and certification of elevators to relevant standards, under supervision
- Developing fault‑finding and diagnostic skills through hands‑on experience
- Building technical knowledge and competence to progress towards full Test Engineer responsibility
- Working in line with company procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations
This role offers a strong development pathway, with structured learning and on‑the‑job experience to support your progression as a Test Engineer.
Qualifications
- Currently undertaking, due to start, or willing to work towards NVQ Level 4 in Testing and Commissioning
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- A keen interest in developing technical expertise within lift testing and commissioning
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, site teams, and customers
- A proactive approach, with the ability to show initiative while working well as part of a team
- A positive attitude and openness to learning and change
- Well‑organised, with the ability to manage tasks and follow structured processes
- A customer‑focused mindset and professional approach on site
- Willingness to self‑reflect, learn, and take ownership of personal development
