Advanced Manufacturing Engineer- Aircraft

Company: Vertical Aerospace
Apply for the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer- Aircraft
Location: Bristol
Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineer – Aircraft Industrialisation will own the industrialisation of specific major aircraft assembly boundaries (e.g. Wing, Pylon, Propulsion, Final Aircraft Assembly stations) defining how our aircraft is built from first pre-production unit through to scalable production.

You will lead the development of assembly process plans, production line concepts and facility layouts to support our transition from pre-production builds to rapid rate ramp. You will generate the core production data (MBOMs, work instructions, tooling definitions, assembly sequencing) and help shape the takt‑based assembly system that will scale from early builds to high‑rate assembly.

This role combines hands‑on assembly process definition with production system design. While primarily planning‑focused, you will work closely with build teams during early aircraft builds, resolving issues and embedding improvements back into the digital production system.

This position is critical to enabling Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR) and establishing a production capability capable of scaling from Low‑rate Initial Production (LRIP) to significant annual volumes over the coming years.

  • Own industrialisation of defined aircraft assembly boundaries, delivering production‑ready processes through to line readiness.
  • Generate and control robust digital assembly data within Delmia / 3DEXPERIENCE (MBOMs, sequencing, work instructions, tooling).
  • Define and mature assembly line layouts and takt concepts to enable rapid rate ramp from pre‑production to LRIP and beyond.
  • Establish clear condition of supply into major sub‑assemblies to protect internal assembly flow and efficiency.
  • Own and deliver aircraft assembly boundary deliverables to MRR.
  • Support early builds and embed learning to strengthen process capability.

Qualifications

We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences:

  • 6+ years Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering experience supporting aircraft or complex mechanical assembly.
  • Experience industrialising assembly processes during NPI or early production builds.
  • Experience generating digital production data (MBOMs, sequencing, work instructions, tooling) within systems such as Delmia.
  • Practical exposure to complex aircraft assembly, e.g. final assembly, structural join, propulsion or EWIS installation.
  • Understanding of assembly line layout, rate ramp or production system planning.
  • Hands‑on engineer comfortable operating in ambiguity and supporting early builds.

Benefits

  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holiday
  • 5 extra days per year to buy (or sell)
  • 5 extra days holiday when you get married or enter a civil partnership
  • Additional 4% of your salary to spend on extra benefits
