The Role
As a Trainee Electrical Design Engineer at Omega Red Group, you will be mentored by experienced professionals to develop your skills in the dynamic field of electrical design, particularly in High Voltage and Power Earthing. You will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering team while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Assist in the design and analysis of earthing systems using a suite of industry‑standard software tools.
- Support the timely completion of design packages, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, safety, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with external engineering consultants, assisting in the delegation of work packages that align with in‑house activities.
- Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to ensure compliance and quality assurance of designs.
- Contribute to the delivery of high‑quality design outputs and support the development of least whole‑life cost solutions.
What You’ll Need
- A passion for electrical design and a desire to learn about High Voltage and Power Earthing Engineering.
- A relevant degree in Electrical, Civil, or Process Engineering (BEng/MEng) or equivalent qualifications.
- Good commercial awareness, with strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- A proactive and positive attitude, demonstrating a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- A full driving licence is required, with the possibility of occasional travel for site visits.
- Experience with AutoCAD would be considered an additional advantage.
- Programming skills relevant to power system analysis would be highly beneficial.
- The ability to learn and apply complex power system concepts promptly would be an important strength.
