This is a full-time, permanent position on Crick terms and conditions of employment.
The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world‑class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions.
The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure, cutting‑edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high‑quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.
The Human Biology Facility supports Crick researchers to conduct high‑quality research involving human samples and data. We provide expertise across the full study lifecycle – from sourcing materials and navigating governance frameworks to ensuring compliance and managing samples.
Working with scientists, clinicians and external partners, the team enables responsible and compliant research involving human tissues, data and participants. Through governance advice and operational support for receiving and tracking samples, the facility helps ensure research meets ethical and regulatory standards.
We are seeking a Research Governance Officer to join the Human Biology Facility and support the governance and compliance processes that underpin human research at the Crick.
In this role, you will work closely with research groups to ensure studies involving human samples and data meet the required ethical and regulatory standards, including the Human Tissue Act and Health Research Authority approvals.
You will help guide researchers through governance processes, support monitoring of active studies and contribute to improving our processes as the team continues to evolve. This is an opportunity to play an important role in enabling world‑leading biomedical research while maintaining the highest standards of research integrity and compliance.
