Wellbeing Officer – Peterborough City Council – PE1 4HX.
3‑month temporary contract, 37 hours per week, on site.
Based at John Mansfield Campus, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough PE1 4HX.
Key Accountabilities
- Prioritise the needs and ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of children and vulnerable adults on Study Programmes, 14‑19 projects and apprentices. This includes supporting learners in crisis and working in highly emotional situations.
- Act as the front‑of‑house member of the team: book meetings for the team such as learner 1:2:1s, and stakeholder meetings such as Personal Education Planning, Child in Need, Early Help, Youth Offending and Looked‑After Child reviews, and complete timely attendance monitoring and daily calls.
- Contribute to behaviour management of learners and, when necessary, organise corrective action with the management team to identify early intervention strategies to prevent incidents or potential escalation.
- Chair meetings and provide statutory reports with external stakeholders, including Personal Education Planning, Child in Need, Early Help, Youth Offending and Looked‑After Child reviews.
- Manage Designated Person responsibilities to safeguard learners: maintain associated records, liaise with other DPs to ensure robust practices, and support learners with out‑of‑hours safeguarding services if required.
- Responsible for safe medication handling and administration in line with policies and procedures, following personal care and treatment plans to ensure learner safety.
- Motivate and support learners who may have additional learning or social needs to complete training programmes and improve employability, differentiating support levels accordingly.
- Provide support for tutors through regular one‑to‑one case meetings, help manage the learner experience, and deliver training to internal staff where needed to maximise learner safety, welfare and outcomes.
- Review documentation and create learner profiles that specifically plan the learner journey, highlighting risks or safe ways of working; contribute to tracking learners who have left, including early leavers, to support positive destinations where possible.
- Support learners in crisis and advocate for their welfare by preparing them for and participating in external meetings.
- Complete paperwork, including comprehensive support logs, and ensure learner records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor learners’ attendance, attainment and progression, and, where necessary, follow up with learners and tutors.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ICT proficiency, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Working with young people with differing levels of ability.

- Educated to Level 2 standard in Functional English and Maths Level 2.
- Medication handling.
- Ensuring the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
