Role: Payroll Officer. Location: Fareham. Salary: £27-29k.
Responsibilities
- Ensure monthly payroll is accurately prepared each month and liaise with HR where necessary, including attending the monthly HR/Payroll meetings.
- Taking on the day-to‑day responsibilities:
- Ensure all staff receive the correct remuneration, taking into consideration pension liabilities and court orders.
- Ensure staff information extracted from weekly attendance sheets is correctly reflected in staff salaries.
- Ensure all new starters are correctly set up.
- Ensure all leavers are correctly processed and P45s issued.
- Ensure all statutory deductions are made accurately and passed on to the appropriate agency in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the required information is passed to HMRC and the Pensions Trust.
- Manage relationships and initial communications with HMRC, DWP, TPT and MOJ regarding court orders for payments.
- Ensure all payslips and pension letters are issued monthly, including for board members.
- Respond to staff and other stakeholder queries in a timely and positive manner.
- Investigate issues and anomalies and suggest solutions that fit with legal and payroll frameworks.
- Supervise a member of the finance team to ensure that weekly attendance management for our staff is complete and accurate.
- Supervise a member of the finance team to ensure that the weekly payroll is accurately prepared, staff are paid on time and pension liabilities are correctly reflected.
- Assist with administrative processing on the housing management rent database, including correcting user errors and checking housing benefit overpayment requests, write‑offs and write‑backs.
- Prepare the rent breakdown for any new sublets using the template set at the start of each financial year and ensure any new properties are set up in all appropriate databases.
- Ensure that the rent payable for all sublets is correct and paid in a timely manner.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and deliver clear communications that promote the values of the business at all times.
