About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Associate Professor in Therapeutic Radiography to work within our established radiotherapy research team based across both UCL and UCLH. The team is active in clinical trials and in technical and biological innovation across both discovery and translational research, and works closely with UCL’s cross‑disciplinary cancer research network of more than 1, principal investigators. Our work is supported by significant funding from CRUK, NIHR, UKRI and other cancer charities.

The successful candidate will develop an internationally leading research programme and lead our doctoral programme in Therapeutic Radiography, while shaping new educational initiatives in the field. The postholder will provide a key link between UCL’s Department of Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering and UCLH Radiotherapy and Proton Beam Therapy Departments, supporting multidisciplinary research and innovation. They will be an experienced therapeutic radiographer, offering professional research leadership and supporting wider AHP research capability. The postholder will be employed by UCL with an honorary UCLH contract and based at UCLH at least two days per week. A 12‑month probation applies.

About you

We would be delighted to receive applications from experienced Therapeutic Radiographers who bring strong academic foundations and a proven commitment to advancing the field. You will hold a PhD or have equivalent research experience, alongside undergraduate or Master’s-level qualifications in radiography, and you will already be HCPC‑registered or eligible for registration on appointment.

Your experience will demonstrate clear research leadership: delivering impactful studies, publishing in leading international journals, presenting at major conferences, and securing competitive research funding as a principal or co‑investigator. You will also have a strong record of teaching and supervision at undergraduate or Master’s level, paired with a genuine commitment to the pastoral support and development of students and early‑career colleagues.

You will be confident working with confidential and patient data, an excellent communicator, and someone who manages your own workload effectively while showing initiative and adaptability.
