The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a leading institute for biological research and the four research divisions, Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry (PNAC) and Structural Studies, work together as a close-knit community.

Through joining this community, we aim to enable scientists of Black heritage, who are brimming with potential and passion for molecular biology and biomedical sciences, to grow their scientific experience. Responsibilities

Working arrangements

There is some flexibility in working hours to accommodate personal circumstances. There is also provision for maternity, paternity, shared parental or adoptive leave. Let us know if you have any requirements.

Location and facilities

The LMB has a collaborative working culture and a state-of-the-art building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. On-site parking, cycle enclosures and excellent public transport links. A staff restaurant with roof terrace and access to a Campus nursery and sports and social facilities are available. Eligible to join the defined benefit pension scheme and holiday entitlement of 40.5 days per annum (including bank holidays and privilege days). A generous employee discount scheme. The Institute provides training and development opportunities including support towards role-related qualifications. Context

The LMB is a world-class research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI comprises nine research councils.

Timeline

Interviews are anticipated to take place in July 2026 with successful Fellows joining the LMB between early October and end of December 2026 if possible, but with flexibility.

Final appointments will be subject to pre-employment screening.
