Equans Data Centers is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to support a Data Centre project in the South of England. The role provides expert guidance to project teams, drives continuous improvement, and fosters a proactive safety culture in data centre projects.

What you will deliver

  • Promoting a safety‑first culture in the business and ensuring compliance with the company’s Management System. Influence site management on best practice and compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
  • Carrying out audits and routine inspections to report findings and recommendations to the project team.
  • Advising project and site leadership to align safety practices with business strategy.
  • Carrying out accident investigations and reporting to project leads and the HSQ Director.
  • Conducting tool‑box talks regarding high‑risk activities.
  • Liaising with the supply chain to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Reporting all Health and safety observations via SafetyLens.
  • Leading audits, inspections, risk assessment and management (RAMS, RACE) ensuring compliance with ISO 45001 regulations and internal policies.
  • Exercise authority to stop unsafe work and provide advice throughout all project phases.
  • Monitoring, reporting and analysing H&S performance, incidents and trends and implementing corrective action and lessons learned.
  • Delivering targeted training and onboarding support, managing records and working proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in Health and Safety management.
  • Keeping up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicating relevant changes to the business.
  • Driving sub‑contractor performance.

Who are we looking for

  • A Health & Safety professional with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and standards, including CDM Regulations, HSG65 and ISO 45001.
  • Able to challenge when unsafe acts or behaviours are identified.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to write weekly summaries of site conditions.
  • Proficient in delivering impactful training to groups.
  • Skilled in creating and developing charts and graphs for monthly reports.
  • Proficient in Health & Safety data systems with analysis tools and general IT applications including Excel and Pivot Tables.
  • Strong analytical skills with a structured, accurate and proactive problem‑solving mindset.
  • Previous construction experience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience using PowerPoint and preparing presentations.
