About the Role

Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Night Shift Civil Supervisor to support landfall and HDD onshore activities on a major UK infrastructure project. This role will focus on supervising night shift civil and cabling works, ensuring delivery is aligned with project specifications and the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise civil and HDD works during night shifts
• Oversee cabling activities, including trenching, ducting, and installation
• Enforce compliance with HSE plans, CPP, ERP, RAMS, and ITPs
• Coordinate subcontractors and site teams to ensure efficient workflow
• Manage interfaces between multiple contractors on site
• Conduct regular inspections and ensure all safety controls are implemented
• Verify workforce competency and ensure adherence to site procedures
• Ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and safely operated
• Promote and lead a strong safety-first culture
• Report progress, issues, and lessons learned to project management

Scope of Works Includes

• Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
• Trenching, duct installation, and backfilling
• Land cable installation and joint bay excavation
• Site preparation and enabling works
• Landfall civil works and cable installation

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Civil Supervisor or Site Manager
• Strong experience in HDD and civil works on infrastructure projects
• Experience in power or telecom cable installation projects preferred
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors and review technical documentation (RAMS, ITPs)
• Experience coordinating multiple contractors within a live site

Technical Knowledge:

• Health and Safety at Work Act
• CDM Regulations 2015
• Temporary Works (BS 5975)
• National Grid or SSEN standards (desirable)

Certifications (Required):

• SMSTS (minimum SSSTS)
• CSCS Card
• Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or Supervisor (TWS)
