Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver innovative projects, including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce flooding risk to communities and enhance the environment.
- Oversee project delivery from initial strategic planning through feasibility, detailed design, implementation, construction and handover.
- Support team members, build high‑performing teams, and manage relationships with suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and partners.
- Apply commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management; establish effective relationships, facilitate collaborative working and make informed decisions following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.
- Develop resilient relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners, communities to negotiate consents, approvals and external funding.
- Travel regularly to project sites and meetings; occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
- A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline.
- Experience in project and contract management, ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
- A track record for delivering results on technically challenging projects through coordination of a technical team.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to mentor and support teams.
- Experience in feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.
- Driving licence (required).
