Job Description
We have a great opportunity for a Project Manager (HV/EHV) to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team.
WSP’s T&D team delivers electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. This role is to project manage pre‑construction and construction activities (from design to energisation) for large‑scale high‑voltage infrastructure and grid connections at voltage levels normally between 33kV and 400kV.
Our projects would include feasibility, detailed design, procurement, construction, test and commissioning on existing or new substations and associated infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop HV projects (up to and including 20kV) initial functional requirements into compliant cost‑effective engineering solutions.
- Project‑manage the development and delivery of small/medium HV projects (cable, plant and civil) to time, cost, safety and quality.
- Interface with customers as well as internal and external resources to develop and deliver HV projects.
- Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed HV projects.
- Effectively communicate with internal engineering and industrial resources.
- Coordinate external service providers and administer commercial.
Qualifications
- Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working on HV substation projects.
- Understanding of electrical distribution plant items operations, controls and associated systems such as switchgear, protection, power transformers and underground power cables.
- Good understanding of the H&S and CDM requirements for projects.
- Ability to undertake the role of ‘Designer’ and/or ‘Principal Designer’ under the CDM regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation relating to the design of electrical substations.
- Ability to travel as per project needs.
