Job Description
Graduate Project Manager (Energy) – based at our head office in Warrington with regular weekly travel to site and lodging where required. You will support the Project/Contracts Manager to ensure the effective management of the project to achieve targets in safety, time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction, while aligning with Company and divisional objectives and client expectations.
This is a project role and requires collaboration across teams to deliver critical national infrastructure on behalf of UK energy transmission and distribution network owners.
Responsibilities
- Attend pre-start meetings, devise a strategic programme of works at contract start, and continually monitor progress to achieve targets for safety, time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction.
- Produce the overall Project Delivery Plan and associated short-term programmes, updating as needed in collaboration with the Operations/Contracts Manager.
- Act as a visibly strong leader of HSQ&E, promoting high standards of health, safety and environmental management; attend Health & Safety meetings, develop Health & Safety Plans, ensure compliance with procedures, and conduct SHEQ and quality audits.
- Ensure HSQ&E activity and reporting are accurate, legally compliant, and within group policies; highlight and resolve concerns where identified.
- Ensure adequate staffing, effective leadership, and high morale with strong two-way communication and teamwork.
- Support the Contracts Manager in managing opportunities and risks; lead by example to maintain United Infrastructure as a centre of excellence.
- Work closely with the Commercial team to ensure alignment of commercial and operations matters.
- Notify and obtain client approval for any work outside the scope of the contract and assess implications of changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2:2 Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management or a closely related discipline.
- Good IT skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong organisation, time management and communication skills.
- Full driving licence or active progress toward one, with expected attainment by start date.
- Willingness to commit to weekly travel to project site and lodging where required.
