About The Role

Job Title: Evening Cleaning SupervisorLocation: St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL2Salary / Rate: £32,500 per annumHours: Evenings 15:00 – 23:00 (5 days out of 7 as per rota)

As an Evening Cleaning Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing evening cleaning operations, ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across the site. You will lead and organise the cleaning team, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard. This is a hands‑on supervisory role that combines people leadership, quality control, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising and coordinating the evening cleaning team and daily work schedules
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control are maintained at all times
  • Carrying out regular quality checks and inspections
  • Managing attendance, timekeeping, and cover for planned and unplanned absence
  • Reporting maintenance issues, equipment defects, and supply requirements
  • Ensuring correct use of cleaning equipment, materials, and chemicals
  • Maintaining accurate service records and task tracking
  • Supporting, training, and developing team members, including identifying deputies
  • Responding promptly to issues requiring urgent attention
  • Working collaboratively with managers and colleagues to deliver a reliable, professional service

This role requires a calm, organised, and positive approach, with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a cleaning supervisory or facilities‑based role
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise, and lead a team
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • A calm, professional, and approachable manner
  • Good communication skills and confidence interacting with others
  • Reliability, good timekeeping, and flexibility in your approach to work
  • The ability to identify issues, take ownership, and follow through with solutions
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support and develop team members
