Job Description:

Job Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape our approach from the ground up. You will lead our data, monitoring, and analytics strategy, architecting the systems and developing the capabilities that will become the single source of truth for infiltration. You’ll transform how we use data, from deploying a strategic monitoring network to developing new, enhanced and predictive models as well as creating dashboards that drive multi‑million‑pound investment decisions. You will be responsible for developing and executing the full data, monitoring, and analytics strategy for the project. This will involve identifying appropriate data sources, overseeing the implementation of strategic monitoring techniques, and either developing or procuring the core data platform that supports the programme. As part of your role, you will design and build the programme’s Infiltration Dashboard, providing a clear, intuitive, and trusted view of network performance for stakeholders ranging from field teams to senior leaders. You will also develop and implement a methodology for quantifying benefits, translating physical outcomes such as reduced flow into auditable financial and regulatory gains to demonstrate the value of interventions. In addition, you will act as the analytical hub for the programme, offering vital data support to teams involved in strategic investigation, delivery, and performance tracking. Your insights will drive informed decisions across the board. You will champion a data‑driven culture, promote data quality and evidence‑based decision-making, and upskill the wider team to embed an analytical mindset throughout the organisation. Finally, you will enhance our analytical capabilities by applying statistical techniques to identify trends and patterns, and as the programme evolves, explore and implement machine learning or similar models to generate predictive insights into infiltration hotspots.

Requirements and Experience

We’re looking for someone with strong data analysis skills and experience working with large, complex datasets to solve practical problems. Proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python or R, and platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik is important. You should have a strategic mindset capable of designing future‑proof data architectures and analytics roadmaps. Strong problem‑solving abilities and an inquisitive nature are key, along with the ability to communicate complex insights clearly to non‑technical audiences. Candidates from a range of technical backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including data science, engineering, environmental science, hydrogeology, physics, and asset management. Experience bridging real‑world systems with data, particularly in utilities or telemetry, is valued but not essential. Familiarity with data platforms, governance, and quality management is desirable, as is knowledge of statistical modelling, predictive analytics, or machine learning. A degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics is preferred.
