Job Description:

Park Recruit are delighted to be partnering with a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation to appoint a Technical Author. This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative business where you will play a key role in translating complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation.

This position sits within the product development function and will work closely with engineering, design, and commercial teams to ensure accurate and engaging technical content is delivered across a range of platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex information into clear, concise, and engaging documentation.
  • Produce high-quality technical materials including:
  • User guides
  • Instruction and operating manuals
  • Training documentation
  • Online help content
  • Create technical specifications in collaboration with engineering, sales teams, and customers.
  • Develop simplified maintenance instructions and troubleshooting guides.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, and product teams to ensure accuracy and clarity of information.
  • Support the sales function with technical documentation, site visits, and product insights.
  • Liaise with external providers such as translators and printers where required.
  • Review and enhance existing documentation, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Coordinate illustrations and visual aids using relevant software tools.
  • Ensure all documentation meets company design and quality standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, health & safety standards, and company policies.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Strong educational background (including English and Maths).
  • Experience in technical writing or producing user manuals/documentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD and technical design concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tools such as Adobe Acrobat/Illustrator.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Desirable

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience within manufacturing, quarrying, or recycling equipment sectors.
  • Creative approach to producing visually engaging documentation.
