National Grid is seeking a HVDC Business Strategy Partner to shape forward‑looking procurement and supply chain strategies across the HVDC portfolio, ensuring we stay ahead of evolving global market demands.

What You’ll Do

  • Shape category strategy – build and continuously improve procurement strategies for HVDC equipment and services, turning market insight and supply chain intelligence into clear, actionable plans.
  • Drive supply chain insight – track supplier capacity, lead times and market trends to anticipate challenges, strengthen forecasting and support confident, future‑focused decision making.
  • Influence key stakeholders – collaborate with project, engineering, commercial and finance teams to align delivery with category strategy, ensuring realistic, compliant, value‑driven solutions.
  • Provide strategic assurance – contribute to portfolio and project reviews, offering guidance on supply‑chain readiness, risk and overall deliverability.
  • Deliver high‑quality analysis – create clear, data‑driven documents, models and presentations that simplify complexity and support senior‑level decisions.
  • Build capability – promote strategic thinking and consistent ways of working within a growing, ambitious category team.

What You’ll Have

  • MCIPS qualification (or progression toward) is preferred but not essential.
  • Background in procurement, engineering, energy, commercial, data or related disciplines is welcomed.
  • Energy sector experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 (PA23) and Utilities Contracts Regulations (UCR) 2016.
  • A strategic thinker who balances insight with practical delivery across data, people and long‑term planning.
  • Curiosity, proactivity and drive to understand supply‑chain and deliverability challenges.
  • Significant experience in strategy, category management, supply‑chain, commercial or a closely related field within complex or regulated environments.
  • Highly organised with strong analytical skills.
  • Confident leader and coach, experienced in developing others in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and presentation skills, able to translate complex analysis into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborative team player with a structured, methodical approach and strong attention to detail.

What You’ll Get

Up to £58,000, dependent on experience, plus a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme with our contribution double‑matched to a maximum of 12%.
