General Manager

Avery Healthcare is one of the UK's largest providers of luxury elderly care homes, committed to creating meaningful experiences for both residents and employees. The company is seeking a passionate and dedicated General Manager to lead the team at Frognal House Care Home in Sidcup, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person‑centered care while managing the home's operations and staff.

Main duties of the job

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team to deliver excellent, person‑centered care to residents in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment. This includes ensuring consistent delivery of high‑quality care, managing staff recruitment, retention, and development, acting as a focal point for contact with residents, their families and healthcare professionals, managing the home’s budget and maintaining safe staffing levels.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the consistent delivery of high‑quality care, person‑centred care and ensuring residents receive care based on best practice.
• Being responsible for the ongoing recruitment, retention, and development of staff within the home.
• Acting as a focal point for contact with residents, their relatives, and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in residents’ wellbeing.
• Ensuring safe staffing levels are reviewed and maintained in accordance with both occupancy and dependency.
• Providing on‑going inspirational leadership and management to the staff team.
• Ensuring costs are well managed and maintained within budgetary controls, by reviewing regularly and monitoring stock.

Qualifications

• Have a minimum of four years of experience in a similar care environment.
• Have Leadership and Management Level 5 or equivalent.
• Possess excellent leadership and management skills.
• Have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and be competent in IT.
• Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

• A DBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
